In this film from 1951, Auckland keeler Outward Bound and her crew sail in the harbour as spectators throng the foreshore to view the yachts preparing for Regatta Day. With up to one thousand entries, the Auckland Regatta was said to be the largest one-day regatta in the world. Additional scenes show enthusiasts taking part in regattas all over the country.

This 1964 film shows Auckland fathers and sons spending their spare time building P-class yachts for the summer season. The boys had to be under 16 years old; all the yachts were identical and took about six weeks to build. When they were finally launched on Auckland Harbour, the boys received instruction from experienced yachtsmen.
