The firm was soon getting commissions from top designers, including Arthur Robb.\n \n**Salthouse Brothers**\n\nBob’s design career commenced with the 44-foot (13.41m) motor launch *Kotanui* (1961) and the 50-foot (15.24m) launch *Trinidad* (1966).\n\nThe Salthouse yard went on to considerable success, becoming J. Salthouse Boat Builder Ltd in 1963, then in 1968, when Bob became a partner in the firm, Salthouse Brothers Ltd. The brothers also set up Salthouse Custom Glass Boats, with Bob as main designer. At its peak Salthouse Brothers was building more than 50 boats a year, employing 55 staff and many more sub-contractors in three factories.
